Why buy beef directly from a farm?
Buying direct usually gets you better beef for less per pound — especially buying a quarter or half animal — and you know exactly how it was raised. Most farms here offer grass-fed, pasture-raised, or dry-aged beef you won't find at a grocery store.
How much beef is a quarter or half cow?
A quarter is typically 100–120 lbs of packaged beef (a chest freezer's worth); a half is 200–240 lbs. Farms sell by "hanging weight" — ask the farm how they price it, and expect to reserve ahead since most process in batches.
